FAQs

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT SEPTIC SYSTEMS

Q: What is a septic tank?
A: A septic tank is a watertight container, generally made of concrete, that is buried on your property and that receives wastewater from your home.
Q: Why should I have the tank cleaned?
A: The septic tank has a scum layer on top and a sludge layer in the bottom, so you need to remove the scum and sludge layer, so that you have the cleanest water going to the septic field. We use backflushing to get the maximum amount of sludge out of the tank.
Q: How often should my septic system be cleaned?
A: Septic tanks should be pumped and inspected every 3-5 years, but this depends on your tank size and the frequency of use.
Q: I am not experiencing any problems with my septic system; do I need to have it pumped anyway?
A: Absolutely! Regular septic system maintenance is the only way to ensure that your system will remain problem free.
